Project Description: Doctorate degree in Chemistry, related to Biological and Medical Genetics
This doctoral position is offered at AMU Aix-Marseille University, the largest French University, highly ranked for intensive research and high educational level. This doctoral project is integrated into the NANOSARC program, founded by AMidex, from the French Fund for Excellence.
The main objective is to produce hybrid gold nanoparticles for vectorization of antisense oligonucleotide. Our goal is to develop an efficient genotherapy, with a dramatic increase in the effective delivery into the cancer cells. In association to radiotherapy, this treatment would enhance the efficiency of the surgical therapy, and even prevent from it, at early stage.
This program is combining the expertise and efforts in the area of Chemistry (MADIREL, AMU-CNRS), Biological and Medical Genetics (MMG, AMU-INSERM), Clinical studies (AP-HM), supported by highly skilled platforms (spectroscopies, microscopies, imaging and radiotherapy).
A major objective for this Doctoral project is the training of a young scientist at the frontier of physics/chemistry and biology/clinics.
The work is based on the development of new small hybrid nanoparticles. The main focus is on the “molecular” scale control of the approach, from the purifications and characterizations of the nanovectors, the interactions with the oligonucleotides, up to the study of their biological and medical effects. The Doctoral project will be conducted at the Physical-Chemistry Lab MADIREL (UMR7246 AMU-CNRS) and the Marseille Medical Genetics Center MMG (U1251 AMU-INSERM). It is a central part of the interdisciplinary NANOSARC program, aiming to improve the treatments for mesenchymal tumors,specially soft tissue sarcomas.
