The Dissertori group at ETH Zurich has developed a strong research programme in nuclear medical imaging, in particular concerning the development of cutting edge preclinical (SAFIR) and clinical (BPET) full scale Positron-Emission-Tomography (PET) scanners. Our group has an immediate opening for an engineering position in our PETITION project recently granted by the Swiss National Science Foundation. Building upon our previous and ongoing PET scanner developments, we will create two high-performance PETITION scanners. The projects are:
We are enhancing our team with a clinical PET development Post-Doc. You will lead the software development (improvement of the data acquisition, data processing and image reconstruction software) for two clinical PET systems. Furthermore, you will be responsible for the approval and realisation of the first clinical test of a full scale clinical bedside brain PET-system. You will be working in a team with a second detector development scientist, a mechanical engineer and an electrical engineer. You will coordinate with clinical and administrative staff from the clinical research center (CRC) from CHUV. The support of the world-class infrastructure of CHUV and ETH Zurich Institute for Particle Physics and Astrophysics will be available to you (multiple workshops – mechanical and electrical, rapid prototyping, clinical research expertise).
As a researcher, you will help to improve the PET system by building on your own and our expertise. You will drive the development, planning, and execution of clinical trials as well as the publication of achieved results. In areas where your expertise has to be improved, we will supply the necessary training (foreseen in particular in clinical research). You will take responsibility of the software development and the CHUV clinical bedside PET detector system commissioning. You will play a key role in the coordination of the clinical applications in the ICU.
