The Academy of Creative and Performing Arts (ACPA) of Leiden University is looking for a
Full Professor of Practice and Theory of Research in the Visual Arts
ACPA is a research institute of the Faculty of Humanities, and is part of the intensive collaboration between Leiden University and the University of the Arts The Hague.

The Faculty of Humanities has a wealth of expertise in the fields of philosophy, history, history of art, arts, literature, linguistics, religious studies and area studies of almost all parts of the world. The Faculty offers staff and students from the Netherlands and abroad an inspiring international working environment and opportunities for diversity and innovation. ACPA is an institute of the Faculty of Humanities and has a firm base in the two faculties of the University of the Arts The Hague. The Royal Academy of Art The Hague (KABK) and the Royal Conservatoire The Hague (KC). The KABK and KC have some 1,800 bachelor’s and master’s students of visual arts, design, music and dance, including their subdisciplines. ACPA also collaborates with research institutes and teaching programmes of the Faculty of Humanities and other faculties at Leiden University.
ACPA offers two PhD programmes: PhDArts for visual arts, design and other art disciplines, and docARTES for music, a collaboration between various institutions in the Netherlands and Flanders.
ACPA plays an important role in the exchange of students at bachelor’s and master’s level between Leiden University and the University of the Arts The Hague. Leiden students can follow programmes at the KABK and the KC. Theoretical elective courses are also offered in the arts, where students from Leiden and The Hague participate together in programmes.
Terms and conditions
The professor will be given an employment contract with the University of the Arts The Hague for 1.0 FTE. The appointment will be for a period of five years with an evaluation after one year and with the prospect of a permanent contract. The starting date will be 1 February 2022. Within this appointment, 0.7 will be as a full professor at Leiden University on the basis of a ‘(guest) ‘professor-agreement’. In addition, 0.3 FTE will be a lectorate at the University of the Arts The Hague. The gross monthly salary based on a full-time appointment is a minimum of € 5,797.43 up to a maximum of € 8,225.67, in line with the Collective Labour Agreement for universities of applied sciences (CAO-HBO) and depending on the qualifications of the successful candidate. The appointment as lector at the University of the Arts is based on D-4, article 2 of the CAO-HBO. The University of the Arts The Hague has excellent employment benefits, including a year-end bonus of 8.3%.
