The Joint European Doctoral Programme in Advanced Materials Science and Engineering (DocMASE) is an international program with the participation of universities in Germany, France, Spain, and Sweden and supported by the Erasmus Mundus program of the European commission. The DAAD will provide within its programme Graduate School Scholarship Programme (GSSP) three fully paid PhD scholarships for starting doctoral thesis work at the Saarland University in Germany from before the 1st of December (1 position) and beginning 2018 (2 positions).
Saarland University is one of Germany most international Universities and is located in the vibrant region at the German/French border close to Luxemburg. The Materials Science and Engineering Department (MSE) of Saarland University is recognised as one of the leading centres of materials science in Germany. The department is formed by 11 chairs covering the wide spectrum of materials science. Scientific research at the university is particularly enhanced by intensive collaboration with distinguished research centres established on the university campus, like the Material Engineering Centre Saar (MECS) and the Leibniz Institute for New Materials (INM)
We are looking for higly motivated candidates for 3 doctoral positions for the following projects:
The PhD student will develope his/her doctoral projects at the Saarland University and will get a scholarship of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
General admission criteria:
DocMASE is aimed at candidates with a Master’s Degree (or equivalent) in Materials Science and Engineering, or other related subjects such as Physics or Chemistry. Very good English knowledge is required, German knowledge will be an advantage. Voluntary German courses are provided at
Saarland University. The DAAD scholarships are available for non‐German candidates that have not lived more that 15 months in Germany until the 30.08.2017 (beginning before the 1st of December) or 30.09.2017 (beginning 2018) and who have taken the last final exam in the past six year.
