Several PhD positions are available in the group of Prof. Jochen Hub at Saarland University, Saarbrücken, Germany. The Saarland University is a research university of international renown, with an international campus, and with an excellent research environment for biophysics and computer science. Saarbrücken is located right in the heart of Europe, and it is the cultural center of the border region of Germany, France and Luxembourg.
Our research focuses on deciphering the molecular mechanisms that allow biological macromolecules to carry out their functions. Our work emphasizes biological membranes and large biomolecular complexes, and we develop simulation methods for combining experimental data with theoretical models of proteins. Our simulations are carried out on our group’s server cluster with currently 180 modern GPUs.
Our projects are embedded into collaborations to experimental groups in Paris, Munich, Göttingen, Grenoble, Glasgow, and Saarbrücken.
