Advanced Ceramic Materials group at the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences is led by Prof. Erkki Levänen and is part of the Materials Science and Environmental Engineering Unit. Advanced Ceramic Materials group is working with ceramics intended for demanding engineering applications and for applications requiring special functional capability. We are working with particles, novel suspension online measurement systems, ceramic 3D printing, mechanical properties of ceramics, supercritical carbon dioxide assisted synthesis of particles and functional textured surfaces. We are also working with circular economy of secondary raw materials. Applications include photoactive and antifouling surfaces, sensors, sustainable surface treatments, porous 3D printed ceramics for gas treatment. Ceramic materials are typically hidden deep into equipment and systems, but their properties typically enable the functioning of the system.
We are looking for 1-2 Research Assistants to work on research and development projects and various laboratory tasks. Topics include measurements, sample preparations, building of test equipment, test runs, industrial service measurements and smaller or bigger individual research projects.
You do not have to master all techniques related to our research yet, we will teach you how to use them. Interest and curiosity towards materials science will be the key to success in our group. So, do not hesitate to apply!
