Salary £30942 to £40322 per annum (pro-rata if applicable) depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.
Applications are invited for the above post based in the Department of Mechanical, Materials and Manufacturing Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering at University Park, Nottingham. This post will complement and strengthen research related activities within the Advanced Component Engineering Laboratory (ACEL) on Jubilee Campus at the University of Nottingham. The ACEL group carries out world-leading research on innovative manufacturing processes.
This post will focus on the improvement of powder feedstocks for next generation additive manufacturing. This work will be in conjunction with the MAPP hub at the University of Sheffield, a world-leading initiative in delivering low energy, low cost and low waste high value powder-based manufacturing. The post will involve use of advanced manufacturing technologies, including but not limited to electron beam and electrochemical based methods, as well as modern surface and microstructural inspection methods, to advance the state of the art in material properties for powder-based manufacturing. A good understanding of materials engineering and materials characterisation is required.
The successful candidate will join the ACEL group in the Department of Mechanical, Materials and Manufacturing Engineering and be expected to contribute high quality research suitable for publication in high-impact academic journals. A good publication track record is necessary. In addition, the candidate should have the ability to work with industrial and academic partners, and have an excellent level of written and spoken communication.
This full-time (36.25 hours per week) post is available as soon as possible, and will be offered on a fixed-term basis until 31 March 2022. Job share arrangements may be considered.
